Not just another online QS Service
Price Doctor is different. It is designed to help you save time and get more work done with the control and flexibility that you need. Here’s why it’s so different:
- Certainty:We charge a flat rate for domestic plans so you know what you are paying at the outset – no surprises or waiting for confirmation of the cost to price your job. See below for our simple pricing structure
- Control:We send you the priced job that you can access in your Price Doctor account, where you can make changes and additions to the calculators yourself
- Flexibility: Whether you don’t have time or don’t want to make the changes yourself, then we can make the changes for you
- Consistency: All jobs can be priced and managed in Price Doctor, even the ones you price yourself, so everything is in the same place, accessible from anywhere
- Professionalism: You will get detail prices itemising materials and labour, with clear descriptions generated in professional looking quotes ready to send to customers
It is important that you check the prices and the plans thoroughly when you get them back as the onus is on you to ensure that they are correct. While we prices them as best we can, you will have seen the property and will have much more of an understanding about the work involved that we will be able to get from the plans.

FAQ’s
Here are some of the questions that we get asked:
- How long does it take?
As standard we will have the plans priced and sent back to you within 5 days. You can opt to use our express service which will have all the plans priced and back to you within 24 hours of your payment or having submitted the plans to us (whichever is the latest) - What if my project has several categories of build?
If you have several categories in your project, then we will charge for each category. For example, as a subscriber needing to have a project with a rear extension with a patio and loft extension, this will be charged at £199.98+VAT. The loft extension is a separate category to the rear extension, however the landscaping and groundworks are included. - My project is only small. Can I still use the pricing service?
If your project is only going to be using a single trade type, then it would qualify as a Small Works Project and attracted a reduced rate. For example, if you wanted to price a garden wall, this would use only a bricklayer (from a pricing perspective), so would be a Small Works Project. If in doubt, get in touch and we will clarify the costs for the project. - Can I use your service as a homeowner?
Yes, of course. The information that you get back is in a slightly different format as you don’t need a quote, for example, however you will get the detailed list of materials, Gantt chart and full descriptions of all the tasks involved with your build. The labour rates will not be able to be altered but will be provided by Price Doctor as the average for the postcode of the build address - Can you price timber/steel frame buildings and system build homes?
Yes, we can price work for timber and steel frame buildings. Price Doctor will also price most different types of system build, however if there is something that we cannot do we will discuss this with you - Why is there an additional charge for pricing projects to a schedule of works?
There is generally a lot of detail included in a schedule of works which needs to be individually accounted for and priced. Normally these details are picked up in our calculators so generally the schedule of works add a lot more manual pricing time. Also, pricing information needs to be presented in a different format or layout to which the Price Doctor calculator generate their out puts, so this means there is more work to achieve this - Is the pricing that you give to Homeowners the same as the pricing provided to trade customers?
No, for the trade there needs to be a formatted quote, which will use the tradespersons letterhead (we will help create this) and logo, for example. However the calculators used will be the same to calculate the base price and quantities of materials. Trade users will have the ability to alter their labour rates and profits and mark ups - I already have a QS that I use – why do I need Price Doctor?
Price Doctor is just a tool to help anyone price up building work more accurately and quickly. We have a number of Quantity Surveyors who use Price Doctor to price work for their clients
