Change Management; How to Track Extras on Building Projects
There has been a huge amount of effort put into improving the calculators over the summer and this autumn. There are now calculators for almost every conceivable domestic project that you might decide to take on. Once the project is underway, it is vital that you track the changes and are able to articulate them to your customer. Otherwise you could end up paying for any additional work you do! The answer is to record all these changes in Price Doctor as you go so your customer can see extras as they build up.
Tracking and Recording Changes in Price Doctor:
The ability to manage changes to your project has become a lot easier. We have added a panel above the task in a job where you can see and manage any changes that occur:
Simply select the type of change you want to make and enter the details. All these changes will be recorded and totaled up as you go so that when it comes to billing nothing is forgotten. You will see them on the finance tab of the summary (where you can also see what has been billed and what is awaiting billing too):
Neat new features we added to make things easier include:
- Option to notify customers of the extra or deduction directly from Price Doctor with an auto generated email
- Traffic light system to show which extras or changes have been notified or accepted by your customer – no surprises mean you get paid quicker with no haggling at the end of the project.
- Extras can be applied to the whole project or individual task in the project so that it is easier to see, bill and communicate to the customer
- Extras are shown in the client portal, along with their financial summary, so customer will always not where they stand and what bill to expect.
Managing, recording and agreeing extras is always a massive chore on any building project.
