The Changes:

• For large projects you can flick right to the calculator or task line:
• All the sections are on the same page to make it easier to scroll on mobile devices
• You can quickly flick to the task breakdown in the Price Builder to see the output of your calculator:

1. Send us your plans
   And make payment either in the Price Doctor app or by bank transfer. There is a 24 hour “rush service” available if needed.
2. We price the job for you
   You will get a full breakdown of the materials and labour needed including all costs, with a Gantt chart and customer quote to send on.
3. You tweak and perfect
   You can make the changes directly to the pricing or we can do it for you until you are happy with your price.
4. Send the quote
   We’ll help you create professional looking quote templates to send to customer to increase your success rate!

What do you get?

We will send you a full ‘build pack’ including all the information you will need to complete the project; full materials and labour lists, including all quantities and prices. You will also get a customer copy of the quote which you can send to your customer. This will include your logo and letter head – if you have added them to your Price Doctor account (send them to us if you’re having any trouble and we add them for you).

How do you keep quotes up to date with prices changing so fast?

With materials prices changing so quickly, prices for quotes that you have issued are becoming out of date and need to be updated if the customer has taken time to accept your quote. Updating prices is no longer a problem!

It has always been possible to update the component prices in Price Doctor, but with so many changing we have created a bulk price refresh in this release.

You are now able to look at the prices for each calculator. If they have changed you can review or update them quickly and easily. When you are happy all you have to do is then rerun the calculator to update the price for the whole quote.

Here’s is the clever bit when we see price changes we will flag this to you and prompt you to use the new price of keep with your old price.

We have also made it possible for you to update your mark-up & profit on a whole project rather than by each task line.

You can still set your default profit and mark-up percentages in the “My Profile” for your whole account, and then modify them by task. However this change gives you the ability to change the profits and mark-ups for a whole project in one go.

The first update of 2023 is a cracker – we have made massive improvements to the diary in Price Doctor to help you manage and plan work more easily.

It’s one thing to be able to price up the work quickly and easily but when you do win it, you then need to get it done. This is where the Price Doctor Diary comes in; we have created views which you can use to quickly see what is planned for who, for when. This is the easy way to plan the work you have to get done and manage your resources.

Here’s a few of the things that we have added to make it easier to see what your guys are doing, whether employed or sub-contractors. These features are mostly for Premier accounts as Standard accounts only have one person in the diary so it is in not really that relevant… for now, but there is room for growth as your business grows.

Managing Users Easily:

These are some of the features we added to make managing other users more effective:

• It is now even easier to select or deselect all users from the calendar list. This means you can see just the people you need to without the clutter of everything else that might be going on.
• Now you can group users in the diary, such as everyone on a particular job, or everyone of a particular trade, making it easier and quicker to plan or filter for them.
• You can now reorder the staff on your list, or even reassign different colours for them so they are easier to see. This is only possible in the lead account (the account that signed up initially).

If you have ever used a good diary, or something similar, you will see how this work pretty quickly!

Clarity and usability:

It is now easier to see what is on the diary, and to customise it so it looks the way you want to see it. Here are some on the features that we have added:

• Task titles are now editable so if you don’t like what we assigned to it, you can change it to something more meaningful to you.
• There are now a number of ways to see the entries for projects. When entries are “expanded” you will see all the tasks for a project on the diary but this can get cluttered so these can be “simplified” by the job or by the staff member allocated to the task. This clears the diary of unnecessary clutter by showing only one entry for a particular job or staff member. Even when simplified all the details can be seen when the entry is opened.
• When adding tasks that are planned for a particular date but have not been allocated to anyone they are allocated to the ‘Unallocated’ user type so it is easier to see which jobs need to be allocated to staff.

Diary Views:

As we mentioned above, we have added a feature so you can create your own diary views. The idea is that Price Doctor will allow you to easily flick between views so that it is quick and effortless to see what different groups or teams are doing. If you need to you can easily make change their diary for them.

• You can quickly create custom views with filters on staff, event types and views.

• You can make a view your default view so that when you open the diary it will always open on your preferred view.
• You can share views with other staff member so that they will be looking at the same diary view as you

How to Plan Jobs:

There are a number of places you can plan jobs, and also re-plan them if things change! Here’s a quick guide to help you:

• In the project: This is easy to do when you convert a quote into a job. Just go to the project in the quotes tab and convert then it to a job. You will be asked to accept it and then plan it as a complete job or task by task:



• In the diary: In the My Diary section you can drag any scheduled work into the new date/staff member or just click on it and fill in the new details:



• In the Job: You can use the project diary feature in the job to drag and change diary entries for that job, and even see the availability of staff:

We have introduced a new rapid pricing service should you need to get a quote out quickly. Send us the plans as usual but if you opt for the Express Service we will have them back to you, priced and ready to go, within 24 hours!

There is an additional charge for this service, currently £40+VAT.

This is ideal if you need to get plans priced fast, or you think there’s going to be a lot of completion for a job and you want to stand out.

Pricing Service for Non-Subscribers

It is now possible to use our pricing service without a subscription so you can try Price Doctor and get the benefit of all it has to offer without any ongoing commitment at all. You can register for free and you then access the Pricing Service, even the Express Service.

This service allows you have additional projects in your account over and above your initial free 3 projects, so you can keep on using your account. By starting to use Price Doctor before you commit to a subscription, you can see if it is going to work for you.

Remember the subscription can be cancelled at any time – there’s no contract, no commitment. In fact, if you sign up and are not happy we will refund you your monthly fee straight away. And subscribers get the pricing service at a discounted price.

Change Management; How to Track Extras on Building Projects

There has been a huge amount of effort put into improving the calculators over the summer and this autumn. There are now calculators for almost every conceivable domestic project that you might decide to take on. Get in touch if you have a project you need to get priced up and we’ll talk you though the calculator, or if you don’t have time we can price it for you (subscribers only).

Once the project is underway, it is vital that you track the changes and are able to articulate them to your customer. Otherwise you could end up paying for any additional work you do! The answer is to record all these changes in Price Doctor as you go so your customer can see extras as they build up.

Tracking and Recording Changes in Price Doctor:

The ability to manage changes to your project has become a lot easier. We have added a panel above the task in a job where you can see and manage any changes that occur:

Simply select the type of change you want to make and enter the details. All these changes will be recorded and totaled up as you go so that when it comes to billing nothing is forgotten. You will see them on the finance tab of the summary (where you can also see what has been billed and what is awaiting billing too):

Neat new features we added to make things easier include:

• Option to notify customers of the extra or deduction directly from Price Doctor with an auto generated email
• Traffic light system to show which extras or changes have been notified or accepted by your customer – no surprises mean you get paid quicker with no haggling at the end of the project.
• Extras can be applied to the whole project or individual task in the project so that it is easier to see, bill and communicate to the customer
• Extras are shown in the client portal, along with their financial summary, so customer will always not where they stand and what bill to expect.

Managing, recording and agreeing extras is always a massive chore on any building project. So often you end up having to swallow the cost of an extra, but with Price Doctor’s simple change tracking features this should be a thing of the past. Now your customer will be informed of extras as they happen and be able to track them so there are no surprises at the end of the project.
